Dear Gopher Community: Several months ago our only family car was completely totaled by an uninsured driver, and I’ve been trying to find a way to replace it ever since. Not having a car so unexpectedly has been extremely difficult, like having the rug pulled right from under us.
I am a single, unemployed, low-income mother, with two full-time college students living at home. Being able to replace our car will help my youngest daughter get back the hours she had to give up at her job due to the lack of transportation, and will help my other daughter to not have to pass up any more job opportunities, because they are located in an area of town where the buses don’t run. She’s already cut back on some of her classes so that she could work more hours. We just need dependable transportation to get her to where the jobs are. It will also enable me to get back to work, and continue to care for my 88-year-old mother and my family.
I am requesting a grant for $1,500.00 to buy a dependable used car for my family. We need to work, and we want to work, but we need transportation.badly, but I cannot get a loan due my low-income. Your help in funding this grant request will go a long way towards helping get my family back on track, and would be so deeply appreciated. Thank you.
