The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality is accepting applications for grant funding through the state’s Electronic Waste Grants Program.
Government entities, nonprofit groups, schools, universities and private businesses are eligible for the grants, which will be administered by ADEQ’s Solid Waste Management Division.
Projects eligible for funding must fall into one of three categories:
• Collection, transportation or processing of scrap electronic equipment.
• Local or statewide recycling and demanufacturing of electronic equipment.
• Measures that promote innovative methods of recycling, donation, demanufacturing or disposal of electronic waste.
The department will give special consideration this year to transportation costs related to e-waste disposal.
The application deadline is September 1, 2009.
